This last weekend my mother's place of business burned down.
It's sad. It really, really is.
There was a little suite behind the shop where I lived growing up. My husband and I started our marriage living in the tiny two bedroom suite with our newborn.
There are so many memories there.
Like the time Logan fell with a glass in his hand. The ensuing blood dripping from his hand sent mom and I scrambling out the door leaving a blood spattered everywhere. I was thought Richard may have had quite the fright just then to come home and find the house looking abandoned with blood dribbled everywhere!
I remember the bunnies we kept that first winter. Kinga and Bongo. They were so cute! And while they hated us, they adored Logan. They would chin his shoes, his car seat - anything that belonged to him!
And the many, many times I sat in my mom's hairdressing chair to get my hair cut or coloured or some new fan-dangled treatment.
Mom lost all her supplies and a host of memories, photographs, CDs, etc, that she kept there.
But in the midst of our grief and loss, we are so incredibly grateful... like down on our knees in thanksgiving to God!
Firstly, initial reports seem to indicate that the fire was purposely set.
My good friend Robin was about to move into that little suite while she interned at my old high school. One day later and Robin would have been caught in the middle. So thank you, God, for protecting Robin and keeping everyone safe!
And secondly, the town has been really good to my mom. Three different offers of business space have already come forward. She is hoping to be back up and functioning by the end of September at another location. So thank you God for surrounding us with loving, caring, kind-hearted people who really know how to help!
Keep her in your prayers! But also join me in praising God for how well he watches over us - even when we're not paying attention!
